Hurtigruten Ports: Stamsund

Apr, 07, 2020

The Hurtigruten docks in the southern part of Stamsund, a little ways away from the main village. The warehouses you stop in front of were the ones used by J.M. Johansen, and the street you can walk along is called J.M. Johansens vei. You’ll see a mural behind one of the warehouse walls.  To get there, when you leave the ship walk immediately to the right and to the end of the white building. Once at the end of the building, turn left and look at the building wall. This was painted by the American Scott Thoe in 2003. He moved to Stamsund and currently owns and operates Galleri 2, which is about 100m from the ship and worth walking to if you’ve got the time.
