New Walking Tours in 2025!

I Love Bergen is proud to launch two new walking tours for the upcoming 2025 summer season. As our main tour, “A Walk Through Bergen Past and Present” (PP), continues to sell out throughout the season, we wanted to expand on our brand concept and introduce tours similar to PP but taking our guests to other places around the city centre.

These experiences have been carefully crafted to highlight Bergen’s most scenic and off-the-beaten-path treasures. If you’ve already booked our signature tour, A Walk Through Bergen: Past and Present, I’d like to introduce these new options that might interest you:

Scenic Bergen: Port to Port History & Alleys

This two-hour tour begins at 9:30 AM or 3PM at a famous street artwork called the “Bird Wall.” It is located a three-minute walk from the major cruise terminal (Jekteviken) and the main city square, Torgallmenningen. This tour is designed for those staying in the city centre or coming from a cruise ship—or maybe you just want an earlier start!

While this tour shares similarities with Past and Present—exploring Bryggen, the historic wooden houses, and the medieval town centre—it also includes the charming Nordnes neighbourhood. Nordnes is often hailed as Bergen’s most picturesque area for its stunning views and local appeal.

The tour ends at Bryggen, five minutes from the Floibanen station or right by the best shops and eateries in Bergen.

Like Past and Present, we will include a discussion on everyday life and our recommendations for where to eat in Bergen.

If you’d like to switch to this tour, we’re happy to make the change at no additional cost! To make the change, send me an email at [email protected] and I’ll move you over.

Urban Hiking in Bergen: Off-the-beaten path local favourite!

Looking for a more intimate and adventurous experience? This 3-hour semi-private tour (capped at 8 participants) blends history and nature. After exploring Bryggen, we’ll guide you to Sandviken, a quaint fishing hamlet featuring some of Bergen’s oldest wooden homes. From there, we’ll ascend to the scenic Fjellveien trail, which offers breathtaking mountain views as we return to the city. This is the most popular walking trail for locals, and it’s our favourite spot too!

Along the way, we will discuss everyday life, Bergen’s fishing and seafaring history, and show you incredibly beautiful places that only us locals know about.

This is an active tour, with steep sections. We cover approximately 5.5km (3.4 miles).

This exclusive tour is 650 NOK per person, but since you’ve booked Past and Present, we’re offering it to you for just an additional 150 NOK per person if you want to switch to this tour. The tour starts daily at 9:00AM and 3:00 PM at Bryggen, making getting to the meeting point easy. The tour lasts for 3 hours.

You can also book this tour in addition to Past & Present. For that, we’ll offer tickets at 400 NOK per person.

Bergen By Minibus Tour

Our popular minibus tour will take you to all of Bergen’s neighbourhoods as well as the city centre, stopping at least four times for photos.

The tour starts at 1:30pm daily, and you can book this tour in addition to your current tour for 400 NOK per person.

Nordnes: The Hidden Gem of Bergen

Our popular off-the-beaten path walking tour takes you through the neighbourhood Nordnes, which is considered to be the best-preserved historic part of the city. A lot has happened here over the centuries, from religious organisations to trading associations, followed by crime, witch trials, executions, and rough sailors quarters. This is the perfect opportunity to escape the crowds at Bryggen and learn about a different side of the city.

This tour takes place at 1:30pm daily and you can book it for an additional 150 NOK per person.
