Terms and Conditions
We want everyone to have a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience in Bergen. If you have any questions about these terms or whether a particular tour is suitable for you, please contact us before booking.
These Terms & Conditions apply to tours and experiences operated by I Love Bergen. By making a booking with us, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these terms on behalf of yourself and any other participants included in your booking.
A booking is confirmed once payment has been successfully completed and you have received a booking confirmation.
Please check your confirmation carefully, including the tour, date, start time, meeting point and number of participants. Contact us as soon as possible if you notice an error.
The person making the booking is responsible for ensuring that all members of their party are aware of these Terms & Conditions and any practical information relating to their tour.
Prices are displayed in Norwegian kroner (NOK) unless otherwise stated.
For bookings made directly with I Love Bergen (on our website or via email), cancellations made at least 24 hours before the scheduled start of the tour are eligible for a full refund.
Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the tour are non-refundable.
Failure to attend a tour without notifying us is considered a no-show and is non-refundable.
If you wish to change your booking within 24 hours of departure, we may offer rebooking where availability permits. A rebooking fee may apply. Rebooking is not guaranteed.
Different conditions may apply to private tours, customised experiences, large groups and agent bookings. Where separate cancellation terms have been provided in your quotation or booking confirmation, those terms take precedence.
If you book through a third-party platform or travel agent, such as Viator, Tripadvisor, GetYourGuide or another reseller, your booking is also subject to that company’s cancellation and amendment policies.
I Love Bergen cannot override the rules of the platform through which you booked.
Where a third-party platform controls your payment, refunds must normally be processed according to that platform’s procedures and policies.
We therefore recommend checking the cancellation conditions shown when making your booking.
Please arrive at the meeting point before the scheduled start time.
Our tours leave on time and, as they are walking tours with moving routes, it may not be possible to locate or join the group after departure.
Guests arriving more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time cannot be guaranteed admission to the tour.
Missing a tour because of lateness is considered a no-show and is non-refundable.
This includes delays caused by traffic, public transport, cruise ships, flights, ferries, taxis or difficulty finding the meeting point.
Please allow plenty of time to reach us.
We understand that travel plans do not always go according to schedule. However, our normal cancellation policy still applies if you are unable to attend because your cruise ship, flight, train, ferry or other transport is delayed or cancelled.
Where possible, we will try to help you move to another departure on the same day, subject to availability, but we cannot guarantee this.
We strongly recommend suitable travel insurance to cover unexpected disruption to your journey.
Some of our tours require a minimum number of participants to operate.
If the minimum number is not reached, we may contact you to offer an alternative departure, alternative tour or full refund.
If I Love Bergen cancels your tour, you will always be offered an appropriate alternative or a full refund.
We are not responsible for additional travel, accommodation or other expenses resulting from the cancellation of a tour.
Our tours operate rain or shine.
Bergen is famous for its changing weather, and rain is a normal part of visiting the city.
Rain, cold, wind or other normal seasonal weather conditions are not grounds for cancellation or refund.
Please check the forecast before your tour and dress appropriately. Waterproof clothing and comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended.
In the event of severe or unsafe weather, we reserve the right to alter the route, shorten, postpone or cancel a tour.
If we cancel a tour entirely because it cannot be operated safely, you will be offered an alternative or a full refund.
The descriptions and itineraries on our website represent the experience we normally intend to provide.
However, Bergen is a living city. Roadworks, events, demonstrations, weather, crowds, closures, construction, cruise traffic and other circumstances can occasionally affect our normal routes.
Guides may adjust the route, order of stops or content of a tour when necessary.
Reasonable changes to an itinerary do not constitute grounds for a refund.
For tours involving museums, attractions, cafés, restaurants, the Fløibanen funicular or other third-party venues, availability and opening arrangements may occasionally change beyond our control. Where necessary, we will make reasonable efforts to provide an appropriate alternative.
Our tours take place in a historic city and may include cobblestones, uneven surfaces, hills, slopes, stairs and narrow streets.
Individual tour pages provide information about the expected walking distance, duration and difficulty.
It is the responsibility of each guest to determine whether they are physically able to participate in the tour they have booked.
If you have mobility requirements or are unsure whether a tour is suitable, please contact us before booking. We will be happy to advise you.
Some routes can be adapted for private tours when arranged in advance.
Guests participating in hiking experiences should wear appropriate footwear and clothing and be physically capable of completing the advertised route.
Conditions on mountain paths can change quickly due to rain, snow, ice or other weather.
Our guides may alter a hiking route where they believe conditions, weather or the ability of the group make the original route unsuitable or unsafe.
For safety reasons, the guide’s decision regarding the route must be respected.
Guests joining food experiences must inform us of all dietary requirements, allergies and intolerances at least 24 hours before the tour.
We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate dietary requirements when notified in advance. However, substitutions depend on our partner venues and cannot always replicate the original tasting.
Guests with serious or life-threatening allergies should contact us before booking so we can discuss whether the experience is suitable.
Our food tours visit independent restaurants, cafés, shops and producers. While we communicate dietary information to our partners, we cannot guarantee an entirely allergen-free environment or eliminate the possibility of cross-contamination.
Alcoholic tastings may be included on some experiences. Non-alcoholic alternatives can be provided where available.
Children are welcome on tours where the individual tour description permits them.
Children must remain under the supervision of their parent or responsible adult throughout the experience.
Age-specific pricing and minimum ages, where applicable, are shown on the relevant tour page.
We want our tours to be enjoyable and comfortable for everyone.
Guests must behave respectfully towards guides, other participants, local residents, businesses and members of the public.
We reserve the right to remove a participant from a tour if their behaviour is threatening, abusive, discriminatory, excessively disruptive, intoxicated or otherwise creates a safety concern or significantly affects the experience of other guests.
No refund will be provided where a guest is removed from a tour because of their behaviour.
You are very welcome to take photographs and videos of Bergen and the sights throughout your tour.
However, filming or recording our guides or other guests without their permission is not permitted.
If you would like to photograph or film your guide, please ask them first.
Wearable recording devices, including Meta smart glasses and similar devices, may not be used to record our guides or other participants during the tour.
These rules are intended to protect the privacy of our guides and guests while allowing everyone to enjoy taking photographs and videos of their experience in Bergen.
Guests are responsible for their own belongings throughout the tour.
I Love Bergen cannot accept responsibility for personal items that are lost, stolen, damaged or left behind during an experience or at one of the venues visited.
Please take particular care of phones, cameras, bags and other valuables.
Some experiences include services provided by independent third parties, such as museums, restaurants, cafés, transport providers, attractions and the Fløibanen funicular.
While we carefully select the businesses we work with, these organisations operate independently from I Love Bergen.
Their own operating conditions, safety procedures and restrictions may apply while you are using their services.
I Love Bergen cannot be held responsible for delays, changes or cancellations resulting from circumstances outside our reasonable control.
These may include severe weather, natural events, strikes, public transport disruption, government restrictions, road or attraction closures, emergencies, civil disturbances or other extraordinary circumstances.
Where possible, we will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative arrangement.
We cannot guarantee a particular guide unless this has been specifically agreed as part of a private booking.
Guide schedules may change because of illness, operational requirements or other circumstances.
A change of guide does not constitute grounds for cancellation or refund.
Private tours may be customised according to the interests, abilities and requirements of the group.
Any inclusions specifically listed in your quotation or confirmation form part of your booking. Items not expressly listed as included — such as attraction tickets, transport, meals or refreshments — should not be assumed to be included.
For larger groups, we may require the group to be divided between multiple guides to maintain tour quality and comply with practical or safety requirements.
Special payment and cancellation conditions may apply to private, corporate, agent and large-group bookings. These will be communicated before the booking is confirmed.
Guests participate in walking and hiking activities at their own risk and are expected to exercise reasonable care while moving through public spaces.
Please follow reasonable safety instructions given by your guide.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded under applicable Norwegian law.
If something is not right during your tour, please tell your guide or contact us as soon as possible.
Giving us the opportunity to address an issue while the tour is taking place is often the quickest way for us to help.
If you wish to make a complaint after your tour, please contact us with your booking details and a description of the issue.
We take guest feedback seriously and will review complaints fairly.
We make every reasonable effort to ensure that information on our website is accurate and up to date.
Tour routes, inclusions, prices, opening hours and schedules may nevertheless change from time to time.
The information shown on your booking confirmation and any specific conditions provided at the time of booking take precedence over older promotional material.
Personal information provided when making a booking is used for the administration and operation of your tour and handled in accordance with applicable privacy and data protection requirements.
We may contact you with information necessary for your booking, including meeting instructions, changes, reminders or important operational updates.
Bookings with I Love Bergen and these Terms & Conditions are governed by Norwegian law.
Any dispute will be handled in accordance with applicable Norwegian consumer protection legislation and other relevant Norwegian laws.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to restrict statutory consumer rights.
If you have questions about your booking, accessibility, dietary requirements or these Terms & Conditions, please contact us before your tour.
