A Walk Through Bergen Past & Present

We enjoyed a lovely morning tour with Maria, it was scenic, informative and enjoyable. Maria had lots of historic and current information which she shared with the group in an easy, friendly and sometimes amusing way. Good way to spend a Saturday morning, highly recommend.

If you want to understand Bergen’s soul, this tour is essential. From the first cobblestoned steps, the city’s early history comes alive as you move from landmark to landmark. Our guide—a PhD whose expertise in this period was evident—wove centuries of stories into each stop, connecting ancient trade routes, Hanseatic merchants, and the dramatic rise of this coastal settlement. The pacing was perfect, allowing time to absorb the atmosphere while still feeling like an unfolding narrative. What could have been a simple stroll became a vivid journey through the city’s origins, enriched by the guide’s scholarly insight and passion for Bergen’s heritage. By the end, I felt not only informed but deeply connected to the city’s remarkable past.

Jeff was a great tour guide with a great depth of knowledge. He told the information in an educational and fun way. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour - even though we had reasonably heavy rain at times - remember to dress appropriately. We took up some of Jeff’s recommendations for lunch / coffee etc - great suggestions - thank you ! Highly recommend .

Magdalena was our guide, and she was professional but also personable. She really knew her history, and the 2 hours flew by as we strolled through the city of Bergen!

A simply wonderful city walking tour of Bergen with Judith as our guide. She was on time, informative, answered every question posed by the group, and added her own historical vignettes about this lovely city. We started with an overview of the town, moved on to its fascinating history, and finished with its current shopping, restaurants, and attractions. My husband and I were very impressed and would highly recommend this tour.
