So, you’ve chosen to visit Bergen. Good choice! We think Bergen is the best city in Norway, and rightly so. It is one of Norway’s most historic and best-preserved cities. It is also surrounded by the famous fjords of Western Norway and seven mountains, making it perfect for nature-based activities. But Bergen is also a modern city with so many restaurants, cafes, bars, concerts and events on that you’ll never have a dull moment in this city!

Historic Overview
Bergen was founded in the year 1070 as a merchant city. Because of its proximity between the fisheries of Northern Norway and the merchants of Europe, Bergen was an important city for Norway and remained the largest city in Scandinavia until the 16th century.
